St. John's Counselling Service
Over 35 years ago a commitment was made by St. John's Cathedral to provide both a spiritual and counselling connection with the Hong Kong community. Today that counselling commitment continues to grow for Hong Kong's vibrant multi-cultural community at
St. John's Counselling Service (SJCS) for children, teens, adults and organizations, irregardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, religion or faith.  We provide counselling services for Chinese, Italian, Spanish, French, and English speaking clients with our well educated and experienced counsellors who are from Hong Kong, U.S., U.K., New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, France, Canada and Taiwan. To ensure our clients' counselling needs are met in Hong Kong's challenging and ever-changing environment, our counselling services are provided during the day, afternoon, evening and weekend hours.

Our Mission and Vision
SJCS mission is "to empower the human spirit towards greater awareness in making choices for growth and happiness." Our mission is derived from over 20 years of positive psychology's research, clinical experience, and community-focused principles whereby two goals are sought after in our counselling services. The first goal is to assess and better understand the unpleasant situation(s) our clients are experiencing that impact their emotions, behaviors and thoughts. The second goal then focuses on learning the key principles of positive psychology whereby our clients soon begin practicing optimal thinking, engaging in healthy behaviors, and experiencing pleasant feelings. Hence, reducing the anguish and practicing positive psychology principles provides a more realistic, enduring solution to living a happy life.

SJCS vision is "to become recognized and valued in the community-at-large as a preferred resource for personal growth and counselling with individuals, families, schools and organizations in need." Hong Kong is not only Asia's World City because of its global role in trade and commerce, but Hong Kong's multi-cultural community has also recognized the value counselling can provide to strike a balance between work and life. Today at SJCS we are developing Quality of Work-Life programs (QWL) for all types of organizations across the territory to strengthen Hong Kong's families and communities so our city can continue to be a pleasant experience to live and work in. Concurrently, we provide positive psychology training programs for teachers, academics, schools, counsellors and interested adults so that Hong Kong's happiness index continues to grow in a positive direction.
